Andrew Summers retired in 2006, after twenty years in the investment management industry, with Morgan Grenfell, Morgan Stanley, and latterly Silchester International Investors, a company that he co-founded in 1994, and which now has $100bn under management in its group. Currently Andrew is Chairman of his Calabar Foundation that supports education in rural South Africa and Chairman of various companies in his sports academy and education group in the United States. Andrew grew up in South Africa, and then returned to Edinburgh, Scotland, where he completed his secondary education, then attended St Andrew's University (BSc. Hons), Moray House College of Education, Edinburgh (Diploma in Education) and Heriot Watt University (Diploma in Accounting). Andrew then qualified as a chartered accountant with the Scottish Institute of Accountants, before making a career in finance.
