Andrew Summers retired in 2006, after twenty years in the investment management industry, with Morgan Grenfell, Morgan Stanley, and latterly Silchester International Investors, a company that he co-founded in 1994, and which now has $40bn under management in its group. Currently Andrew is President of his Calabar Foundation that supports education in rural South Africa, and serves on the Boards of a number of small business ventures that he helped to establish. He also serves as Vice Chairman and Finance Trustee of the local Prep School in Hilton Head, South Carolina, where he now lives, and is a Board Member of the Global Network Foundation.
Andrew grew up in South Africa, and then returned to Edinburgh, Scotland, where he completed his secondary education, and attended St Andrew's University (BSc. Hons), Moray House College of Education in Edinburgh (Diploma in Education) and Heriot Watt University (Diploma in Accounting). Andrew went on to qualify as a chartered accountant with the Scottish Institute of Accountants before making a career in finance.
