About Mela

Mela is a leadership development network that accelerates personal and professional growth for executives across 14 Arab countries, fostering responsible and ethical leadership through leadership development programs, business networking and cultural exchange. Together with its global network across 47 countries and approximately 2,000 members, Mela powers business opportunity and lifelong professional growth for its members.

Role Summary

The Network Coordinator is responsible for the health, growth and engagement of the Mela network, and for the delivery of Mela’s programs and events. The role connects members, chapters, committees and prospective members through structured initiatives, communications and flagship programs — and converts a network of alumni into an active, self-sustaining community.

The Network Coordinator is the operational engine of the organization: the Executive Director sets direction and owns external representation, fundraising and governance; the Network Coordinator makes the network and the programs work.

Key Responsibilities

1.  Network engagement and membership

  • Nurture member relationships across the network, in person and virtually.
  • Design and run the annual network engagement plan; compile data to assess engagement and report on it.
  • Own the membership database — accuracy, completeness and regular updating.
  • Track membership status and follow up on membership fee payments.
  • Activate and deliver membership benefits and respond to member requests.
  • Develop and run network-wide programs.

2.  Chapters and committees

  • Keep chapters active and engaged at both chapter and network level; maintain close working relationships with Chapter Presidents and committee members.
  • Manage the Chapter Presidents group — meetings, announcements, elections, orientation, events calendar and engagement.
  • Manage Mela committees, build cross-collaboration between them, follow up on deliverables and report progress to Mela leadership.
  • Provide logistical and technical support for members’ online activities and track delivery of chapter events against the agreed calendar.
  • Attend chapter president, committee and task force meetings; archive recordings and minutes and follow up on outcomes.

3.  Programs and events

  • Lead delivery of Mela’s annual programs — the Leadership Masterclass, the Youth Program, and the Annual Reunion / Global Network Summit.
  • Own every element of event delivery within the agreed timeline: budget, venue, visas, logistics, partners, sponsors, media, speakers, facilitators, participants, vendors, staff and consultants.
  • Select and manage the PR and events agency; own their scope, deliverables and performance.
  • Coordinate with host-country committee members.
  • Issue attendee surveys and produce a closeout report for every event, including expenses, invoices and earnings against budget.

4.  Recruitment and admissions

  • Oversee program and member recruitment across all chapters.
  • Support chapter recruitment committees and recruitment events.

5.  Communications and marketing

  • Oversee the communications function in collaboration with the Executive Director and the Comms Officer.
  • Drive consistent communications to network members and lead media campaigns for each program.
  • Support marketing and outreach for Mela’s external offerings.
  • Keep the newsletter, website and app content current and useful.

6.  Global network

  • Represent Mela with sister networks (SIBF, CELA, SEALA); coordinate cross-network programs, events and outreach.
  • Support Mela members in joining sister-network summits and events.

7.  Administration and process

  • Maintain and update the Mela virtual office, database and institutional archive.
  • Develop and enhance standard operating procedures and processes as the organization grows.

8.  Finance and compliance

  • Lead drafting of event budgets.
  • Track all financial affairs across programs and events; ensure timely payments and reimbursements; issue financial reports.
  • Manage vendor offers, agreements and payments.
  • Maintain accounting records and provide a monthly cash balance update to the Executive Director.
  • Support the annual financial audit; provide all supporting documentation.

Candidate Requirements

  • 5–7 years in network or community management, leadership development, or program management — ideally in a non-profit or membership organization.
  • Proven project management ability, and familiarity with project management software.
  • Demonstrated experience in event management, PR, marketing and communications.
  • Strong stakeholder management: able to balance, negotiate and build trust with diverse stakeholders.
  • Professional fluency in English and Arabic, written and spoken.
  • Familiarity with CRM tools, AI and community-building platforms is an asset.
  • Highly organized, and able to hold multiple responsibilities in an ambiguous, fast-moving environment.
  • Personal qualities of integrity and credibility, and a genuine commitment to Mela’s mission.
