Cancellation Policy

This Cancellation Policy explains how applicants, Masterclass participants, members, alumni, and event registrants may cancel their participation in services offered by Mela for Training and Education Activities (the “Mela Network”). Financial consequences of a cancellation are governed by our Refund Policy.

1. Withdrawing a Masterclass Application

You may withdraw your application to the Leadership Masterclass at any time before the Selection Committee has issued a decision, by emailing info@melanetwork.org from the email address on file. If you have paid any deposit or fee at the time of withdrawal, it will be refunded in full within 14 business days, less only non-recoverable third-party charges (for example, payment-processor fees).

2. Declining a Masterclass Offer

If you have been accepted but decide not to attend, please inform Mela in writing as early as possible. Refund amounts depend on the date Mela receives your cancellation, measured against the Masterclass start date, in accordance with the Refund Policy (Section 1). At Mela’s sole discretion, an accepted candidate may instead defer their seat to a future Masterclass within 12 months, subject to availability.

3. Cancelling Annual Membership

A current member may cancel renewal of their annual membership at any time by emailing info@melanetwork.org from the email address on file. The cancellation will take effect at the end of the current membership year (the day before the next renewal date). Cancelling renewal:

Does not delete your Mela record or alumni status — you remain part of the Mela community as an Alumnus.

Suspends member-only privileges such as voting rights, eligibility for leadership roles, the member rate at events, and full Global Network App access at the end of the current membership year.

Does not trigger an automatic refund — refund eligibility within the membership year is governed by Section 2 of the Refund Policy.

4. Cancelling Chapter, Reunion, or Event Registration

Registrants may cancel their participation in a chapter event, reunion, or paid activity by emailing info@melanetwork.org. The amount refunded is determined by the date Mela receives the cancellation in accordance with Section 3 of the Refund Policy.

5. Cancelling an Online Transaction Immediately

If you wish to cancel a payment you have just made online, please contact info@melanetwork.org within 24 hours of the transaction. If the related service has not yet been delivered or accessed (for example, membership not yet activated or Masterclass seat not yet confirmed), the payment will be cancelled and the full amount refunded to the original payment method.

6. Cancellation by Mela

Mela reserves the right to cancel, postpone, or relocate a Masterclass, reunion, or event for reasons including but not limited to insufficient enrolment, force majeure, public-health or security advisories, travel or visa restrictions, royal-patronage scheduling, or operational considerations. In such cases:

Participants may keep their seat for the new date / venue or request a full refund of fees paid for that program.

Mela is not responsible for personal expenses such as international travel, visas, or accommodation outside the program package.

7. Cancellation for Breach

Mela may cancel or revoke membership, alumni privileges, or program participation, with or without refund, at Mela’s sole discretion in the event of:

A material breach of these Terms or of Mela’s Code of Conduct during a Masterclass, reunion, chapter activity, or online interaction.

Misrepresentation in the application form, biography, or CV.

Conduct incompatible with Mela’s values of respect, trust-based relationships, and active engagement.

Any violation of applicable law.

8. How to Cancel

Send an email to info@melanetwork.org from the email address on file with the following information:

Full name and Mela ID, member ID, or registration reference (if applicable).

The service to be cancelled (application, Masterclass seat, membership renewal, event registration).

The transaction or order reference, if a payment is involved.

The reason for cancellation (optional, but appreciated).

We aim to acknowledge cancellation requests within 3 business days.
