Refund Policy

This Refund Policy applies to all payments made to Mela for Training and Education Activities (the “Mela Network”) through melanetwork.org, including Leadership Masterclass program fees, annual membership renewals, and fees for chapter events and reunions. Together with our Cancellation Policy and Terms & Conditions, it forms the contractual basis on which fees are accepted and refunded.
1. Leadership Masterclass Fee (USD 7,500 / USD 5,500)
The Masterclass is a 10-day in-person flagship program with limited capacity. Because Mela commits venue, accommodation, facilitation, and logistics costs well in advance, the following terms apply:
If your application is not accepted by the Selection Committee — any fees paid will be refunded in full within 14 business days of the decision.
More than 60 days before the Masterclass start date — full refund, less a 5% administrative fee to cover non-recoverable processing costs.
Between 30 and 60 days before the start date — 50% refund.
Less than 30 days before the start date, or after the program has begun — no refund. At Mela’s sole discretion, an accepted candidate may defer their seat to a future Masterclass within 12 months, subject to availability.
The Masterclass fee covers tuition, programming, materials, accommodation, and most meals during the 10-day event. International travel, visa fees, and personal expenses are not part of the Masterclass fee and are therefore outside the scope of this Refund Policy.
2. Annual Membership Fee (USD 260)
Annual membership renewals are refundable in the following circumstances:
A written refund request is submitted to info@melanetwork.org within 14 calendar days of the original payment date and
The member has not yet used any members-only benefit during the new membership year — for example, voting in a chapter election, accessing the Global Network App as a renewed member, registering for a member-only event, or claiming a member rate.
Once any member benefit has been used in the new membership year, the USD 260 renewal fee is non-refundable. Members may revert to Alumni status at no cost; see the Cancellation Policy.
3. Chapter & Reunion Event Fees
For chapter events, the Mela Anniversary Reunion, and similar paid activities:
More than 30 days before the event: full refund, less a 5% administrative fee.
15 to 30 days before the event: 50% refund.
Less than 15 days before the event: no refund. Substitution by another eligible member or alumnus may be permitted at Mela’s discretion.
4. Cancellation, Postponement, or Relocation by Mela
If Mela cancels a Masterclass, event, or program, all participants will receive a full refund of fees paid for that specific program. If a Masterclass is postponed or relocated, participants may either keep their seat for the new date / venue or request a full refund. Mela is not responsible for any travel, accommodation outside the program package, visa, or related costs incurred by participants.
5. Duplicate or Erroneous Payments
If you are charged in error, or pay twice for the same service, please contact us at info@melanetwork.org with the transaction reference. Verified duplicate or erroneous charges will be refunded in full.
6. How Refunds Are Processed
Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method.
Refunds to Visa or MasterCard are normally processed within 7 to 14 business days from the date of approval. The exact time for the refund to appear on your statement depends on your card issuer.
Refunds by bank transfer are processed within 10 to 21 business days, depending on intermediary and beneficiary banks.
7. Currency & Bank Charges
All fees are charged, and all refunds are issued, in United States Dollars (USD). Mela is not responsible for currency-conversion differences, foreign-exchange charges, or third-party bank fees that your card issuer or bank may apply to either the original payment or the refund.
8. How to Request a Refund
Email info@melanetwork.org with the following details:
Full name and Mela ID, member ID, or registration reference (if applicable).
Program or service paid for (Masterclass, Membership, Event).
Date and amount of payment, and transaction or order reference.
Reason for the refund request.
We aim to acknowledge refund requests within 3 business days and to issue an outcome within 10 business days.
